MICHAEL ALPER
Michael Alper (he/him) taught at South Kingstown High School for 32 years, but now spends his time pulling weeds, cleaning up after his dogs, and creating theater. DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Welcome to the Contemporary Theatre Company.

Earlier in our Springboard Season, these actors were able to shed light on global crises and personal struggles, encouraging reflection on how empathy can bridge even the widest gaps under the direction of the talented Tammy Brown. It is told from the perspectives of Europeans set against the backdrop of the 2015 Migrant Crisis with social, political and racial barricading the country.

But the stage is set not just to tell their stories, but to invite each of you to reflect on the broader issues of migration, economic disparity, and human connection. I hope that Lampedusa will not only provoke thought and discussion with a very important election is around the corner. I hope it challenges us to see beyond our own experiences as Americans and extend compassion to those whose lives are often overshadowed by broader societal issues. I am grateful to my CTC family for being able to help bring this vision once again into light. I hope you enjoy the show!
